News of cryptocurrencies of the 1st week of September 2023

Toncoin grew by 33% in a week

The Toncoin (TON) token price is currently around $2, making it quite attractive to investors. However, it is difficult to determine the psychological point of resistance or support at this stage. According to the latest data from CoinGecko, the value of this cryptocurrency has increased by 11% in 24 hours, and at the time of writing, its price is $1.87. Additionally, the Toncoin network saw remarkable growth in August, surpassing 3.2 million registered addresses.

Shibarium L2 network restarted after a major outage

Following the outage, the Shibarium platform—created by the team behind the Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme token—has successfully restored the functionality of its Ethereum bridge. The second-level network was launched on August 16, but within 24 hours technical difficulties began. Due to these problems, approximately 1,003 ETH (valued at $1.8 million) were stuck in the internetwork protocol.

ETH is not the only one that has fallen victim to these outages. Shibarium BONE governance tokens were also stuck in a smart contract with a total value of about $762,000. For about two weeks, the bridge between the blockchains remained inoperative, and transactions did not go through. Now, after troubleshooting, users can withdraw SHIB, LEASH and wETH tokens again. As for the BONE token, withdrawal has also become possible, although processing may take up to one week.

The Shibarium development team explained that the reason for the failure was due to the large volume of traffic immediately after the platform was launched. This sudden burst of activity caused servers to become overloaded and operating limits exceeded.

A hard fork took place on the BSC network

After reaching block marker 31,302,048 on BNB Smart Chain, a key event occurred in the form of the Hertz hard fork. This was a continuation of the previous Plato update, which enabled the BEP-126 standard and integrated an algorithm for faster transaction completion. The second phase of updates, called Hertz, has now concluded, during which technological innovations from the Ethereum network were adapted to the BNB Smart Chain in order to ensure full compatibility between these platforms.

Binance will stop supporting BUSD in 2024

It is important to note that the ability to withdraw BUSD tokens on the BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Tron and Optimism networks will be disabled on the exchange starting September 7, 2023 at midnight UTC. However, BUSD withdrawals via the Ethereum network will remain active until further notice.

MakerDAO will launch its own blockchain based on the Solana codebase

MakerDAO aims to create a unique blockchain inspired by the Solana architecture. As part of the final phase of their large-scale upgrade, known as Endgame, they plan to create many autonomous sub-DAOs that will interact within a vast decentralized ecosystem. This final stage will be represented by the implementation of the entire Maker ecosystem protocol on a new blockchain, tentatively called NewChain. The countdown to the first of five phases of the ambitious Endgame project is scheduled to launch early in the coming calendar year.

Streamer lost 86,000 MATIC while streaming

Brazilian YouTuber Ivan Bianco unexpectedly lost approximately $60,000 worth of assets when he accidentally revealed his secret phrases while streaming.

During one of his latest streams, Bianco unintentionally showed a text file with private keys. As a result, unknown attackers transferred approximately 86,600 MATIC (worth about $50,800 at the time) and 3.35 ETH (around $5,750), as well as several NFTs, to their accounts. Total damage is estimated at about $60,000. After contacting the police, Bianco was surprised when an unknown person on Discord admitted to the theft and expressed regret. Ultimately, most of the stolen MATIC was returned.

Bianco, commenting on the situation, refused to disclose the name of the culprit. Some of his subscribers doubted the authenticity of this story, but the blogger denied all claims. He said police were continuing to monitor the remaining funds and said he hoped his experience "will be a lesson for everyone."
